A professional carpet cleaning not only preserves the longevity of your carpet, it improves the quality of the air you breathe and makes your floors like new. I have to literally place the hose right on the debris, and even then, it is barely sucked into the hose.Sure, you vacuum a couple of times a month and spot-clean your carpet and area rugs, but when was the last time your soft flooring surfaces were really clean? Professional carpet cleaning is vital to the health and cleanliness of your home and its residents. There isn't the usual effect that I've gotten from other vacuums, where the debris quickly slides across the floor from 3-6 inches away into the hose. Whenever I use the hose to manually pick up debris, the debris gently and casually slides into the nozzle, and half the time slides back out. This vacuum feels like a gentle, reverse flow of air, not a suction. Pretty much every other vacuum I've owned, when you slowly place the nozzle/hose close to your hand/arm, they would create a higher pitched sucking sound, followed by a loud "pppphhhhhhtttt" and aggressively suck itself to my hand, like a powerful magnet. It doesn't even roll over its own power cord on hard floors. It isn't easy to roll the canister onto rugs. The handle is prone to clogs, due to its smaller diameter and sharp angle. The hose does not swivel, so it constantly twists up. I have to vacuum over the same spots over and over. When vacuuming hard floors, it's the same thing. I find I have to vacuum rugs over and over. It does a little better if I run it along side the wall. It will not suck anything up against the walls, if I push the cleaner head directly against the wall. This vacuum struggles to suck up dead moths. Our last Dyson would suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. There is NO way its suction is equivocal, let alone more than, other vacuums. It feels delicate and I find myself babying it, out of fears I'm going to break it. This is true, even with the "cheaper" Dysons. The cheaper ones tend to lose their performance over the next few months, but that power can be restored with routine maintenance-cleaning the filters, replacing carpet roller heads/bands/belts, etc. Here's what I've learned about vacuums: Usually, they all work great initially. I've had just about every vacuum and type through the years-uprights, canisters, Electrolux, Kirby, Shark, Bissell, Eureka, Dyson, Oreck, Kenmore, and now this thing. But I'll deal with that for all the positives. My only complaint but not really a complaint is that it is a bit heavy and we have a multi-story house. I also enjoy that the dirt is jettisoned into water, my husband suffers with allergies and I worried about the old vacuums losing a portion of the dust back into the air in our home, with this system dirt doesn't stand a chance to get back out into the air. No friction joints like the old one, these are metal spring snaps, nice!! I love that there is a way to adjust the air power with an easy to operate slide cover thingy for more delicate or light pieces like curtains. I've had it for 3 days now and love it! You can see the quality and craftsmanship that's been put into it, the hose is heavy duty (that broke twice on my old one), the casters swivel easily and don't slow you down while moving about and even the cord is ridged so it slides along itself, no tangles (my old one constantly got the cord tangled up!) The implements are also good quality, the hose sections and heads snap together securely and there's no doubt that they are set. The Rainbow was recommended and I did a lot of research and watched you-tube videos about it. After years of making do with another brand that was supposed to be great, it finally broke for the fourth time and I refused to let my husband patch it back together one more time!
